  • Fabulous February

We love Feb, not only is it a short month but there are lots to look forward to and sometimes you even get an extra day.  However we will not see an extra day until 2020, when the next Leap Year occurs.

Pancake Day (Shrove Tuesday 13th) is nearly here, don’t you just love pancakes.  There are so many recipes from savoury to sweet?   And they are all yum!

Here is a quick basic recipe to help you on your way to making your delicious pancakes:

    200g/7oz plain flour

350-400ml/12-14fl oz milk, or ½ milk ½ water for a thinner, lighter pancake

2 large eggs to be lightly whisked

    A pinch of salt

And vegetable oil for frying (serves four).     Then flip.

Followed by Valentine’s Day on Wednesday 14th - the day of celebration and love.  The day originates as a Western Christian feast day honouring an early Saint named Valentinus, nowadays it is a day of romance. Don’t forget to send those flowers and cards and isn’t it romantic to keep those cards anonymous.

Amethyst is the birthstone for February.  As you know we love gemstones and jewellery and we have been busy organising our second Jewellery Fair. To take place this Spring on 3rd March at The Chesterfords Community Centre, Newmarket Road, Great Chesterford, Near Saffron Walden Essex CB10 1NS.  We are offering a free prize draw for your chance to win £20 voucher to spend with a jewellery vendor of your choice at the fair with 25 stalls to choose from.

We look forward to your support and seeing your there.

  • Happy New Year

Well here goes, here is Rural Magpie's first blog and we'd like to wish you all a very Happy New Year.

Rural Magpie was established in December 2012, we started selling vintage collectables on our site and now regularly have a stall at the local vintage fairs in the area which is fantastic as we get to meet our clientele.

And what a better way to celebrate our fourth birthday than to treat ourselves to a brand new look website.

We are also launching our new service, "Event Style Hire".  Please check out our hire range of fabulous items that can enhance your event, whether a special occasion or wedding.

We are proud of our new look and hope you love it too.
